Giveaways galore at Five Cent Nickel

Five Cent Nickel is giving away a bunch of cool prizes in honor of his 2nd anniversary. He's giving goodies including an ipod which is very generous.

Five Cent wrote about asking for a discount. I'm usually good with asking for discounts when Sprint screws up or with the DSL company. But I never thought of asking for one at the store even when there's no sale.

I don't know why I didn't think about that. There was a cd I wanted on sale at Circuit City but they ran out of copies. So I trudged 15 long blocks over to Best Buy to buy a copy. It was a nice walk but I could've saved myself the half hour by asking for a discount on the older albums the band released. And I would've been just as
happy!

What I liked was the simplicity in asking. He didn't come up with long-winded reasons or explanations on why he should receive a discount. It's as simple as just asking.

I've tried to ask for discounts on clearance shoes at Macy's but never worked up the nerve. Every time I work up the nerve I chicken out. But there are some shoes on clearance that have been sitting on the rack for a few weeks now. I bet the salesperson would be very happy to make extra money and clear extra inventory in exchange for a discount.

Thanks for the tip Five Cent Nickel! And congrats on the 2nd anniversary!
