On the job hunting front ...
I'm very excited about this phone interview for a job I really like and want.
It would mean I can continue taking the class without having to figure out how to get to and from. This company's located nearby my current employer so transit logistics are covered.
Pros:
- Big company so benefits and pay should be somewhat better than what I'm getting
- A lot of responsibility and likely ownership of the position which also would allow me to get more direct operational experience in the international business sector.
- Commute. It's still a very good walk to and from home. Judging by the address, it might be even closer than my current job saving me an extra 10 minutes each morning.
- Room to grow. I definitely sense there's going to be a lot of ongoing learning to stay informed of all the changing regulations and challenges.
- I met one of the executives at the company for coffee a few months ago. She was extremely nice and I enjoyed hearing her insight on her job, career and how she stays informed.
Cons:
- I don't have a lot of hands-on experience in most of those areas. The class I'm taking will be covering this aspect I'm not familiar with so that helps relieve my jitters.
Only one con and that's because I really like this job. It sounds challenging and exciting at the same time. I'm itching for more responsibility. And I really don't want to stay at my current job. I'm so bored and I get that sentiment from a few of my coworkers also. Plus I think my boss is a loose canon and another slip up would mean an official warning.
And I can't go back and ask for that job they offered. I heard from someone recently the workload is demanding and intense. And I really need to get through this class first and survive the exam in April. Plus going to China this summer is my top priority and I'm still trying to bring down the eating out expenses.
